We increased PTSA membership last week and are now 75% of the way to our goal with less than 2 weeks to go. Please take a moment to join online or at Thursday’s Back-to-School night. The 200th PTSA member to join will win TPMS pajama pants!

As our numbers grow, the STRIVE house friendly competition continues. We can see last week’s surge in membership as we start week 5:

• Triumph house has pulled ahead to now tie with Value house for first place
• Engage has advanced to second place
• Inquire house and Share house are tied for third place
• Respect house is in fourth place

There’s still time to help your child’s house. When you become a member, your child’s TPMS STRIVE house gains a point. If you join PTSA online or drop by our PTSA booth at Back-to-School night to join, you may be our 200th member and the lucky winner of TPMS pajama pants.

Exploring the equinox

Join us for an evening at the new Montgomery College Planetarium! Let’s explore the September equinox, its astronomical cause, its effects on our seasons, and its role in calendars and cultural traditions around the world. You’ll leave with a star chart and the ability to find celestial objects on your own.

The astronomy faculty will be on hand to answer your questions about the universe.

The planetarium is a state-of-the-art facility which offers an immersive experience under a tilted 30-foot dome. It features stars, nebulae, galaxies, layered Earth simulation software, and 360-degree virtual reality video and sound.

Minimum age requirement: 5 yrs, accompanied by an adult.

Explorando el equinoccio

¡Acompáñenos en una velada en el nuevo Planetario de Montgomery College! If you’re struggling to identify and implement appropriate technology and parental controls, and balance them with freedom and independence, this new Takoma Park chapter of “OK to Delay” may be for you.  Smartphones, social media, gaming, it’s a jungle out there. “OK to Delay” invites you to connect, share resources, learn together and support one another. Join today to STRIVE for the PTSA Membership Drive

When you become a member, your child’s TPMS STRIVE house gains a point. STRIVE to show your school spirit by becoming a TPMS PTSA member and donate. (If you cannot donate, this does not prevent your child from gaining a point). We have a record number of members so far; please join today to show STRIVE spirit and be a part of PTSA! 

Our PTSA provides opportunities for parents to connect to each other and to the school through listservers, whats app groups and community events and meetings and committees. We work to enrich your child’s school experience through things like assemblies, supplies, and a whole lot more, for example, we support the work of our teachers and staff through teacher appreciation activities and minigrants.

Above: Based on the numbers for August, the Engage and Inquire houses are currently tied for top membership counts. (Note: We matched all membership entries to a house, so even if you did not enter your student’s house in your membership form, you were still counted.) If you have not already done so, please join today to increase counts for your student’s house and continue to watch these newsletters for membership house updates.

We’ve started our fall Membership Drive and we want all our families and teachers to become members! Sign up for a membership on/before Sunday, August 31 and you will be entered to win a Family Membership to the Baltimore Museum of Industry. (Raffle extended since there was no winner from the picnic. If you joined on 8/22, you are still in the raffle.)  Join now!

Welcome Families Picnic Potluck

Wow—what a great Welcome Picnic! Thank you to everyone who came out last Friday night. The weather was perfect, the food was incredible, and it was such a joy watching our kids play and families connect. What a fantastic start to the year! ❤

Teacher & Staff welcome breakfast – Success!

Last Monday kicked off a return to the school year for teachers and staff.  To welcome them back the PTSA provided breakfast with donations and discounts (and restaurant staff that came in early) from Takoma Bev Co, Spring Mill Bakery and Starbucks Coffee in Langley Park.  Thanks to Alisa Obrien – our PTSA Teacher Staff Appreciation Committee Chair for making this happen!

Picnic de bienvenida para familias

¡Qué gran picnic de bienvenida! Gracias a todos los que vinieron el viernes por la noche. El clima estuvo perfecto, la comida increíble y fue un placer ver a nuestros niños jugar y a las familias conectar. ¡Qué fantástico comienzo de año! ❤

Un agradecimiento especial a Ramata Diop, vicepresidenta de eventos de la PTSA, quien organizó y logró que este evento fuera posible.

 

Desayuno de bienvenida para profesores y personal: ¡Éxito!

El lunes pasado dio inicio el regreso del año escolar para maestros y personal. Para darles la bienvenida, la PTSA proporcionó desayuno con donaciones y descuentos (y personal del restaurante que llegó temprano) de Takoma Bev Co, Spring Mill Bakery y Starbucks Coffee en Langley Park. ¡Gracias a Alisa Obrien, nuestra presidenta del Comité de reconocimiento al personal docente de la PTSA por hacer que esto suceda!

ይህን ዝግጅት ላዘጋጀው እና እንዲሳካ ላደረገው ለPTSA Events VP Ramata Diop ትልቅ ጩህት ያድርጉ!

 

አስተማሪ እና ሰራተኞች ቁርስ እንኳን ደህና መጡ – ስኬት!

ባለፈው ሰኞ ለመምህራን እና ሰራተኞች ወደ ትምህርት አመት መመለስ ጀምሯል. እነሱን መልሰው ለመቀበል PTSA ከታኮማ ቤቭ ኮ፣ ስፕሪንግ ሚል ዳቦሪ እና ስታርባክስ ቡና በላንግሌይ ፓርክ ከስጦታዎች እና ቅናሾች (እና ቀደም ብለው የመጡ የሬስቶራንት ሰራተኞች) ቁርስ አቅርቧል። ለአሊሳ ኦብሪየን እናመሰግናለን – የPTSA መምህር ሰራተኞች የአመስጋኝ ኮሚቴ ሰብሳቢ ይህ እንዲሆን ላደረጉት!
