For TPMS 8th Graders only; no siblings. All others will be turned away.

The PTSA will launch our 8th graders into orbit between 7-9 p.m. ET on Friday, June 12, at Takoma Park Middle School.
The “To the Moon Disco Party” will offer pizza, drinks, and space-themed snacks alongside a blacklight party featuring a live DJ, glow gear, and a photo booth to capture the moment. To be inclusive of all, we’ll be hosting a sensory-friendly chill zone, sponsored by xMinds.
The PTSA still needs a flight crew to help set-up, chaperone, and break down the event, volunteer through our signup genius.

It’s been one month since the MCCPTA Tech Committee’s Chromebook Workgroup launched our SBS-MCPS Google Group and we have over 900 members! We want to give you an overview of where we are and how we got here, find out what brought you to this group, and hear your ideas for future advocacy. Feel free to invite others! Tuesday: Families Invited to Learn About Coming Math Changes
MCPS is moving to a new instructional model focused on building a stronger mathematical foundation and developing confident mathematical thinkers. Beginning next year, MCPS will implement a cluster model for mathematics instruction. Cluster grouping is designed to allow students to move into advanced learning opportunities as they become ready. Classes will be organized to reduce the broad range of instructional levels within a classroom, which will make it more manageable for teachers to plan instruction effectively, differentiate learning experiences, and provide timely support and enrichment for students. This model will begin in 2026-2027 for Grade 4 students only, with additional grade levels the following year. If your child is a rising fourth grader, your school will be in touch soon to share details. MCPS will also host the following community meetings for families to learn more. All meetings are from 7-8:15 p.m.

Martes: Se invita a las familias a aprender sobre los próximos cambios en matemáticas
MCPS está adoptando un nuevo modelo de instrucción centrado en construir una base matemática más sólida y desarrollar pensadores matemáticos seguros. A partir del próximo año, MCPS implementará un modelo de grupo para la enseñanza de matemáticas. La agrupación en grupos está diseñada para permitir que los estudiantes avancen hacia oportunidades de aprendizaje avanzado a medida que estén preparados. Las clases se organizarán para reducir la amplia gama de niveles de instrucción dentro de un salón de clases, lo que hará que sea más manejable para los maestros planificar la instrucción de manera efectiva, diferenciar las experiencias de aprendizaje y brindar apoyo y enriquecimiento oportuno a los estudiantes. Este modelo comenzará en 2026-2027 solo para estudiantes de 4.º grado, con niveles de grado adicionales el año siguiente. Si su hijo está en camino al cuarto grado, su escuela se comunicará pronto para compartir detalles.
