Executive Committee Position and 2024/25 school year board member

 What the Role is…

PTSA President Ramata Diop  TPMS.PTA.president@gmail.com
  • Preside at every general, board of directors, and executive committee meeting of this local PTA;
  • Coordinate the work of the officers and committees of this local PTA in order that the purposes may be promoted;
  • Be a member ex officio of all committees except the nominating committee;
  • Review bank statements monthly, and sign and date;
  • Represent this PTA or send an alternate to all council meetings if this PTA is a member of a council; and,
  • Perform such other duties as may be prescribed in these bylaws or assigned by this local PTA or by the board of directors.
Executive Vice President
  • Represent the president in her absence

  • Work to create a system of accountability with the board members

  • Ensure critical committees have adequate chairs and volunteer support

  • Fill the duties of any vacant VP positions

  • Assist to create an organized and effective board

  • Other duties as needed

Vice President of Communications
  • Manage the website, listservs and social media pages

  • Streamline and run electronic communications

  • Assist with promotion of events and initiatives

  • Maintain calendar of events and contact information for PTA officers and board

  • Other duties as needed

Vice President of Fundraising
  • Identify fundraising goals

  • Lead and organize fundraising committee and activities to satisfy fundraising goals

  • Present reports on proposed fundraising activities for approval at board and PTA meetings

  • Other duties as needed

Vice President of Events
  • Develop a strategy and plan for events throughout the year

  • Oversee planning and execution of all events and/or committees running events

  • Ensure record of events held to inform future years

  • Other duties as needed

Vice President of MembershipVishal Sinha
  • Develop and deploy a year-round membership recruitment and retention plan

  • Draft and distribute membership promo and sign-up tools

  • Promote membership and events for school and staff and families

  • Provide membership reports to the board

  • Other duties as needed

SecretaryBecca Albertus-Jones
  • Record the minutes of every general, board of directors, and executive committee meeting of this local PTA

  • Be prepared to read the records of the previous meeting

  • File all records;

  • Have a current copy of the bylaws

  • Maintain a current membership list

  • Other duties as needed

TreasurerEmily Modde
  • Have custody of all funds of this local PTA

  • have custody of all funds of this local PT A/PTSA;

  • Keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures including reconciliation of the bank statement each month;

  • Make disbursements as authorized by the president or board of directors of this local PT A/PISA in accordance with the budget adopted by this local PT A/PTSA;

  • Present a written financial statement at every meeting of the executive committee, the board of directors, the general membership and at other times when requested by the board of directors;

  • Make a full report before the newly elected officers officially assume their duties;

  • Be responsible for the maintenance of such books of account and records as to conform to the requirements of Article IV, Section 13 of these bylaws;

  • Be responsible for preparing and filing all necessary tax forms and submitting a copy to the Maryland• PTA office within thirty (30) days of filing;

  • Have the accounts examined at the close of the fiscal year and upon change of treasurer by an auditor or an auditing committee of not less than three (3) persons who, satisfied that the treasurer’s annual report is correct, shall sign a statement of that fact at the end of the report. An auditor or an auditing committee shall be selected by the board of directors at least thirty (30) days before the new officers assume their duties;

Safe Routes to School Liaison Be the point of contact for the city and school on communications about safe routes to school and related events.
MCCPTA Gifted/Talented Committee  Represent our gifted and talented students and families to ensure they are getting the support they need and their voices are represented.
MCCPTA Special Needs Committee Bonita Williams & Beverly Hassel Represent our special needs students and families to ensure they are getting the support they need and their voices are represented.
Website and Listserv ManagerVishal Sinha Update and manage our web presence and list serve communications.
Committee Chairs: International/Multicultural Night International Nights is one of our most beloved activities.  The school comes together to share food, music and give performances representative of their cultures of origin.
Committee Chair: Mini GrantsJenee Weeda The PTSA awards mini-grants of up to $500 to teachers and staff (and students too) to help offset costs associated with  activities, events or items that enrich the school community or curriculum.
Committee Co-Chairs: Books and BasketballCeline Allard Our biggest event of the year where over two days we host a Teachers vs. Students basketball game, and Used Booksale!  It’s an incredible way for us to build community together, which fundraising for our school.
Committee Co-Chairs: Bake SalesSarah Corcoran Well timed bake sales are an excellent source of fundraising for our school.   Lead the committee to determine what these dates are, and get the community to provided treats to be sold at the events!
Committee Chair: Staff AppreciationAlisa Obrien & Amy Sawyer It is our mission to support our students, but to do so, our teachers and staff need to know they matter.  This is an incredibly rewarding committee that endeavors to find opportunity to shower gratitude on those who work tirelessly for our families.
