Help – Volunteer chaperones needed for the Finance Park trip next week!

Hey TPMS Families,
The 7th grade trip to Finance Park is next week, and they don’t have enough volunteers, putting this trip at risk.  If you have availability and can step up to chaperone this activity, our 7th graders would be grateful.   They can’t do this without parent/caregiver volunteer support.
Here’s the information.

Next week, Takoma Park MS 7th Graders will be visiting Junior Achievement Finance Park! (November 9th – 11th)

Address: 12501 Dalewood Drive, Silver Spring, MD

Volunteer Time Commitment: 8:45 am – 1:45 pm (includes 1 hour volunteer training)

This is not a typical field trip for students or caregivers! Students will have the opportunity to be an adult for the day and learn to balance a family budget. This is an amazing opportunity for students to start connecting education to career, career to income, and income to lifestyle!

The opportunity for caregivers and the school community is to support students as they are making budgeting decisions and bring the experience to life for students.

  • Please consider volunteering even if your student is not in 7th grade; this supports the overall school community!
  • Did you know about this opportunity, but your student doesn’t want you to volunteer? Please don’t let that stop you from being engaged!
    • This might be the last time you get to participate in a school experience for your student before they get to high school!
    • There are opportunities to see your student throughout the day, but you will not be assigned to your student group (this might be a relief to your student😊)
    • Students benefit from hearing from another adult role model!
  • You don’t have to ride a school bus! Volunteers are trained the morning of and should arrive at the Junior Achievement Finance Park location at the start time without their students!
  • Junior Achievement Finance Park is also a great employee engagement opportunity – if you work for an organization and want to plan a volunteer day reach out to: jagwvolunteer@ja.org

Please register here to volunteer:  https://vhub.at/jafpmc

Thank you for your consideration and support!
